Summary

Oversees patient transport tasks. Assists in the daily functioning of the department in support of patient transport care and needs.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Allocates and utilizes Patient Care Assistants (PCAs) to assigned zones.
2. Performs daily rounding to assure service needs are met, and complied with standards including dress code and infection control as well as ensuring health and wellness of PCAs.
3. Provides input for employee evaluations.
4. Represents PCAs in activities and meetings as required.
5. Follows the chain of command in reporting incidents or concerns.
6. Promotes a safe environment and safe patient care by embracing a safety culture and identifying areas of risk to Supervisor, Central Patient Transport.
7. Supports quality initiatives within Central Patient Transportation Section.
8. Follows established telephone etiquette, and seeks assistance where appropriate.
9. Performs dispatching duties when needed and as assigned.
10. Adheres to the Employee Code of Conduct. Maintains confidentiality at all time.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma in Hospital/ Business Administration or other related discipline or High School Education is required.

Experience Required

No experience is required with Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma (on-job training), one (1) year as Patient Care Assistant or related experience with High School Education is required.
