Responsible for managing, overseeing, and directing the functions under the Support Services to ensure effective implementation of organizational policies and procedures and the optimal utilization of the Hospital resources.
1. Audits, monitors and approves the Support Services departments operating and capital budgets. Ensures the effective utilization of physical and financial resources of the division. Manages the division’s financial plans and budgets and take corrective action when necessary. Is accountable for all expenditure from the division’s budget.
2. Directs and establishes strategic plan, goals, and objectives for the Support Services and provides leadership for their implementation.
3. Ensures development and execution of Support Services long and short term plans in line with the Hospital strategic objectives.
4. Develops Division’s performance. Establishes formal means of accountability on the part of the subordinates.
5. Ensures regular liaison with other organizational entities in order to provide appropriate specialist functional support.
6. Monitors departmental performance for timely and smooth operational activities to ensure that required services are provided adequately and satisfactorily.
7. Ensures that administrative support and resources are adequately available to all the hospital areas; also, responsible for the efficient operation and maintenance of the hospital’s transportation, laundry, housekeeping, pest control, waste management and food services equipment and housing services.
8. Develops, recommends and reports on the initiatives and performance of the Support Services.
9. Evaluates and counsels the managerial staff to enable subordinates to improve their performance and achieve departmental objectives. Identifies training needs and recommends training programs.
10. Oversees the selection, recruitment and retention of staff for key positions within Support Services.
11. Ensures that all services follow the applicable Hospital policies and procedures, as well as the standards enforced by international regulatory bodies.
12. Adapts and implements best practices for Support Services in line with international standards.
13. Participates in management and Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) and any other committees as directed.
14. Manages the contractual operations of the assigned services.
15. Follows all Hospital policies and procedures.
16. Participates in self and other education, training & development as applicable.
Master's or Bachelor's Degree in a Hospital/Health Care Administration, or any related discipline is required
Eleven (11) years of related experience with Master’s, or thirteen (13) years with Bachelor’s Degree, including five (5) years in a supervisory/managerial position is required.
