Summary
Manages the establishing of policies and procedures to enhance the operational efficiency of all Applications databases. Ensures the provision of secure and well-functioning databases that facilitate users in making informed decisions.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Manages robust database security measures and policies in compliance with the Hospital’s overall Healthcare Information & Technology Affairs (HITA) policies. Ensuring appropriate access controls, data encryption, and data integrity measures to safeguard the Applications databases.
2. Reviews the rules and strategies for monitoring Applications databases to improve their ongoing performance.
3. Oversees the monitoring mechanisms, analyzing performance metrics, and implementing measures to optimize database performance.
4. Oversees the document processes and procedures related to the management of the database environment, ensuring clear guidelines for tasks such as backup and recovery, data maintenance, and database configuration.
5. Collaborates with the Applications & Health Informatics as well as Informatics Systems Operations teams to plan and fulfil the current and future database resource requirements.
6. Assess database needs, capacity planning, and ensuring resource availability to support application functionalities.
7. Develops and execute a preventive maintenance schedule and plan, encompassing activities such as database tuning, performance optimization, and regular health checks to identify and resolve potential issues before they impact database performance.
Education
Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or other related discipline is required.
Experience Required
Grade 11:
Six (6) years of related experience with Master’s, or eight (8) years with Bachelor’s Degree, including two (2) years in a senior/ supervisory capacity position is required.
Grade 12:
Eight (8) years of related experience with Master’s, or ten (10) years with Bachelor’s Degree, including four (4) years’ (Grade 11) related experience is required.
