Summary
Develops, directs, implements, and maintains Preventive safety programs to prevent and correct unsafe environmental working conditions for patients, visitors, and staff. Also, ensures that Hospital’s properties, equipment, and facilities are safe and secured against all hazards including fire. Leads the evacuation of patients, visitors, and staff from hazard areas in case of Fire and/or disasters cases, and ensures the proper firefighting, as needed.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Develops and promotes safety/occupational health and fire control programs. Reviews and interprets national and international safety and fire standards and determines the applicability of these to the Hospital’s.
2. Reviews design construction drawings for new buildings or modification of existing buildings and installation of equipment. Directs the inspection plans, and areas where there are health hazards from toxic chemicals, radiological or biological substances in coordination with concerned experts in order to initiate recommendations for preventative safety measures. Leads Hospital’s Safety Survey and present to Management the required improvement recommendations.
3. Oversees and supervises the employee safety and fire training program, as well as on-job and off-job safety education.
4. Responsible for the annual budget preparation after consulting with area managers as to needs, monitors budget of assigned sections during fiscal year.
5. Directs activities of the Department. Ensures the establishment of work schedules. Oversees the assignment of work to subordinates and changers assignments to meet changing conditions. Checks work in progress and after completion to ensure that it meets proper standards. Evaluates the performance of subordinates and counsel’s subordinates to improve performance. Determines training needs for subordinates, reviews employment applications and interviews candidates and makes hiring recommendations.
6. Collaborates/cooperates with Civil Defence or any other related Government entity in cases of threats and emergency and ensures the possibility for the firefighting equipment and trucks to access the emergency scene.
7. Liaises with other departments to determine hazards related to things such as unsafe acts and conditions, toxic and electrical hazards. Coordinates with other departments for proper waste disposal and elimination of hazards. Evaluates equipment safety.
8. Acts as advisor to the Director of Safety and Security Services Division on all matters concerning safety/loss prevention.
9. Acts as consultant for external government agencies and private establishments in matters pertaining to safety, loss prevention and fire prevention/protection. Conducts lectures, both in-house and for external institutions, on various subjects relating to safety, loss prevention and fire prevention/protection as requested.
10. Ensures the response and handling of all reports related to fire incidents within the Hospital’s premises / compounds professionally.
Education
PhD, Master’s or Bachelor's Degree in Administration, Security, Law and safety or other related disciplines is required.
Experience Required
Six (6) years of related experience with PhD, including four (4) years in a supervisory/managerial position, nine (9) years with Master’s , or eleven (11) years with Bachelor's Degree is required.

? Working knowledge of principles, practices, laws, standards and regulations including Saudi as application to hospital safety/loss prevention field, such as NFPA, OSHA, JCAH, EPA, etc. and other related standards and codes.
