Summary

Performs a variety of tests in the Clinical Laboratory, focusing on Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD).

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Assists in organizing daily work activities in alignment with schedules and work patterns of the section. Assiststhe section supervisor in effectively disseminating information through inter-shift, inter-sectional, and departmental communication channels. 

2. Ensures optimum levels of supplies are available to provide uninterrupted services. Assists in ordering supplies and maintains the supply inventory system. Operates within cost-effective practices of the section. 
3. Assists in the evaluation of new methodologies and equipment relevant to Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis. Stay updated with advancements in the field and contribute to the identification and implementation of innovative techniques.
4. Obtains and processes laboratory specimens for analysis and testing. Performs various analyses, tests, and procedures using techniques such as PCR, DNA sequencing, ARMS-PCR, GAP-PCR, long Template-PCR, fragment analysis, gel electrophoresis, WGA, Karyomapping, and NGS. 
5. Adheres to appropriate laboratory safety procedures and practices to ensure a safe working environment. 
6. Assists in maintaining records as per established Medical Laboratory standards. Operates and maintainslaboratory equipment, ensuring its proper functioning and calibration. 
7. Contributes to the maintenance of Quality Control programs within the section and actively participates in the Quality Assurance programs of the department. 
8. Assists in the revision of policy and procedure manuals in accordance with specified guidelines.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, or other related discipline is required.

Experience Required

Grade 08: 

Two (2) years of related experience with Bachelor's Degree is required. 

Grade 09:
  •  Four (4) years as Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis Technologist or (Grade 08) related experience is required. 
  • One-hundred (100) cumulative continued medical education [CME]. 

Other Requirements(Certificates)

  • Current Registration from a country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required. 
  • Independently performed ≥ 400 hands-on Karyomapping / NGS cases and demonstrated a clear understanding of PGD techniques.
