Summary

Acts in a senior capacity and assists other technologists on performing sophisticated procedures. Assists the manager with planning and coordination of cardiac catheterization activities. Performs duties of cardiovascular technologist (Invasive).

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1. Observes and monitors catheterization procedures for normal/abnormal patterns. Uses knowledge to evaluate results observed and immediately informs the cardiologist of any ECG or pressure changes.
2. Makes preliminary analysis and hemodynamic interpretation for the cardiologist's further study and diagnosis. Insures recording all findings and incorporating these into patient's medical record/system database.
3. Carries out all catheterization procedures under direction of cardiologist. Assists with scrub duties and positions radiographic equipment correctly.
4. Analyses and assesses temporary and permanent pacemaker lead(s) and programs pacemaker devices.
5. Receives and completes on a timely manner the work assignments from the manager of the department and gives assignments to technical staff.
6. Assists the manager with daily operational activities,problems solving and coordinating with physicians/floors regarding patients’preparation and transportation.
7. Insures the availability of proper equipment and supplies prior Cath procedure and inform the manager of the shortage or need for equipment repair.
8. Determines the needs for further training of the cardiovascular technologist staff.
9. Assists the training, education, and supervision of students, fellows, and new staff members and the evaluation of their performance. Interviews and orients new staff.
10. Ensures that clinical equipment is safe and functional and performs routine equipment maintenance. Informs the manager of safety hazards or need for repair/maintenance.
11. Assists with emergency resuscitation measures.
12. Contributes with research projects, program development,data collection, and other projects. Participates in departmental quality control and quality improvement programs.                                               
13. Responsible for one of the sections as needed(Paediatric, Adult or Electrophysiology). Responsible for section related staff training and competency check off’s.
14. Complies with the section policies, procedures and protocols. Establish a continue quality improvement program in accordance with CBAHI, JCI, SFDA and other accreditation agencies standards.   
15. Complies with Radiation safety rules and regulation of the hospital and in accordance with KACST and K.A. CARE and other national orinternational regulation bodies.                                                        
16. Applies and ensures compliance with ALARA principle role for all procedure involving radiation exposure.
17. Follows all Hospital’s related policies and procedures.
18. Participates in self and other’s education, training, and development, as applicable.
19. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor’s or Associate Degree/Diploma in Cardiovascular Technology,Health Science, Cardiac Ultrasound, or other related discipline is required.

Experience Required

Grade 09:

Four (4) years with Bachelor’s or Six (6)years of related experience with Diploma Degree is required.

Grade 10:

• Four(4) years of experience as a Senior Cardiovascular Technologist Invasive,Ultrasound at KFSHRC, or (Grade 09) related experience is required.
• Averageof annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
• One-hundred(100) cumulative continued medical education [CME]

Other Requirements(Certificates)

 Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required. 

 Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required.
