The Department of Neurosciences-KFSH&RC-Jeddah is a distinguished Center of excellence, providing tertiary care service for patients with diseases and disorders affecting the central and peripheral nervous system. Our Department includes Neurosurgery, Adult Neurology, Psychiatry, Psychology and Neurophysiology Lab.

The Neurosciences team consists of expert staff and educators who are continually seeking to advance the leading edge of Neurosciences to provide state of art evidence based quality care to our patients. The Department is deeply involved in to promote the education of young trainees and graduates and encourage lifelong learning. Also, we conduct research activities in all Neuroscience fields.

OUR SPECIALTIES ARE:

  • Neurosurgery, including the following subspecialties:

  • Epilepsy Surgery

    We perform complex epilepsy surgery cases in patients with seizures resistant to medical management. KFSH&RC Jeddah as the referral center for all such cases in the western region of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

  • Vascular / Endovascular Neurosurgery

          Patients with complex Neurological Vascular problems like Arteriovenous Malformation, Aneurysms, Dural Venous Malformations, etc. are                                  managed by applying Microsurgical and Endovascular techniques at KFSH&RC Jeddah by an expert team of Interventional Neurosurgeons.

  • Skull Base / Endoscopic Neurosurgery 

         Tumors of Skull bases like Pituitary tumors, Clival Lesions, Skull bases, meningioma, etc. are treated in our Department by applying the latest                              technologies.

  • Pediatric Neurosurgery

          Congenital deformities like Craniosynostosis, Tethered cord syndrome, etc. as well as acquired pediatric Brain Tumors are being operated on in                          KFSH&RC Jeddah.

  • Spine Surgery

          We are treating complex spinal degenerative diseases and Tumors. We are offering and integrating traditional as well as minimally invasive techniques.

  • Neurology, including the following subspecialties

  1. Stroke: Diagnosis and management of different stroke syndromes, acute stroke, and vascular stenosis.
  2. Epilepsy: Epilepsy monitoring unit facilitates the diagnosis of epilepsy syndromes including refractory cases, non-epileptic events, and surgical cases.
  3. Movement Disorders: Diagnosis and management of numerous diseases like Parkinson's Disease, ataxia, and hyperkinetic disorders.
  4. Neuro-immunology: diagnosis and management of numerous diseases like multiple sclerosis, neuro-myelitis optical, and vasculitis.
  5. Neuromuscular: Diagnosis and management of numerous diseases like myasthenia gravis, myopathy, and neuropathy.
  6. Botulinum toxin injection clinic: management of spasticity, dystonia, and migraine.

  • Psychiatry

          We are an outpatient and consultation services that help the patient achieve emotional wellness and learn healthy skills to face life challenges.

          Our services include diagnostic evaluation, and therapeutic and medication management with a focus on oncology and transplant patients, as we are                part of a tertiary hospital. Based on eligibility criteria, we accept referrals from other hospitals. Our department has a post-graduate educational                        program for training physicians.

         The Neurophysiology Laboratory at KFSH&RC, Jeddah provides sophisticated diagnostic services for detecting a wide range of neurological disorders                  and conditions.

          The highly skilled technologists and electroencephalographs who work in our lab perform and interpret a complete range of neuro-diagnostic tests that           assist physicians in the diagnosis of various neurological conditions. These conditions include seizure disorders, headaches, brainstem dysfunctions,                 and other disorders affecting the nervous system. 

     Diagnostic Testing for Neurological Conditions:

      The Lab’s EEG technologist provides high-quality comprehensive care for newborns, children, and adults, using the latest advances in technology and                 science, including:

  • Electroencephalograms (EEG).
  • Intraoperative Monitoring (IONM).
  • Evoked Potentials (EP).
  • Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU).
  • Nerve Conduction Study (NCS).
