Pediatric Stem Cell Transplant Program is one of the Programs of Excellence
The Bone Marrow Transplant (or Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation) Program is one of the largest, most highly regarded pediatric programs nationally and internationally.
Established in 1993, the Program has performed transplants for more than 2000 transplants over the past two decades, more than 300 cord blood transplants, 90 % from KFSHRC -Cord blood Banks in the last 5 yeas
Over 140 to 145 transplants are performed per year for infants and children with cancer and leukemia, bone marrow failure and genetic diseases including sickle cell disease, severe immune deficiencies and some metabolic/storage diseases. The program is accredited by Joint accreditation of international cell therapy (JAICE) and European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), EBMT since 2010. The program performs autologous and allogeneic transplants from sibling and family donors and from unrelated adult and cord blood donors, as is best on a case-by-case basis

Neuro-Oncology & Retinoblastoma Program
The neuro-oncology team is formed of excellent well skilled & experienced neuro-surgeons and highly qualified radiation oncologist to deliver optimum radiation therapy, neuro-radiologist, neuropathologist, and neuro-oncology nurse coordinators to form all-inclusive comprehensive multidisciplinary team to address all aspects of care of a patients with various brain tumor s. The program is also unique since King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital, the largest tertiary care eye hospital, refers all eligible retinoblastoma patients to KFNCCC therefore the largest number of patients are seen at KFNCCC&R which gives an opportunity to identify relevant risk factors, adders genetic factors and optimize care
Histiocytosis Program
Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis is a life-threatening disease and it awareness had substantially increased over the decade. Both hereditary factors and non-hereditary factors may contribute in its pathogenesis. The Histocytosis program is aimed to improve the state of knowledge of the histiocytic disorders, provide optimal care, promote education and to physicians, patients and parents in matters related to the histiocytic disorders, to perform epidemiological and genetic research studies and collaborate both nationally and internationally
Hemostasis Program
The hemostasis program objectives are to optimize clinical care and education for patients with bleeding or thrombosis. It also aims at consolidating the clinical diagnostic and research facilities for these disorders. It will be a provision of opportunity for physicians and nurses to fine tune their skills in hemostasis with advancement of patient care through both clinical and research activities.
Hemoglobinopathy Program
As the main tertiary care center for the country, King Faisal Specialist Hospital is the referral center for complicated and undiagnosed conditions, which require specialized and experienced staff in addition to sophisticated diagnostic facilities. We deliver high standards by developing modern practice of providing the comprehensive care programs that involve multidisciplinary specialties to deal with the sequels of disease and prevent and manage organs dysfunction. As a program this will set a model for similar programs to learn from KFSH&RC in other centers.
