Radiology is the science that deals with the use of radiation for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes in medicine. Radiologic technologists, or radiographers, are the terms applied to individuals qualified to use radiation sources to produce images of the parts of the body for interpretation by a physician known as a radiologist. Radiology Department includes the following sections: General Radiography (X-ray), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasonography (US), Nuclear Medicine (NM) and Interventional Radiology (Angiography and Fluoroscopy). In King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center (KFHS&RC), Radiology Department provides the interns with the opportunity to integrate academic knowledge along with the clinical practice using a detailed program for every section. The Radiology department internship-training program is designed to require students to undergo a full extensive year/six months of hospital training after completing their 4-year. For one (1) year & six (6) months rotation, the internship program will include all sections: General Radiography (X-ray), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Ultrasonography (US), Nuclear Medicine (NM) and Interventional Radiology (Angiography and Fluoroscopy). In addition, the interns having one-year rotation are eligible to choose one section among these modalities as a subspecialty. |
