X-ray is a type of radiation called electromagnetic waves which penetrate the body to create diagnostic images.

The X-ray images show parts inside the body in different shades of black and white. The color differentiation is caused by different tissues absorb different amounts of radiation. 

Exam Duration: most exams take 10 - 20 minutes

Preparations:

There are no special preparations for a diagnostic X-ray exam.
